FD Skills Development

 Every year our FD renews and expand their skill-set with training and refreshers. Last week the Mantorville Fire Department refreshed their skills with vehicle extraction. The image below shows the tool the FD uses to bend the roof back once the "A" pillars have been cut through. This is just one example of the continuing education our Fire Department members engage in to keep us safe. Great job!

Celebrating our Veterans

 While 202 has been a challenge in many ways, the blessings we have as a nation would not be possible without the dedication, perseverance and sacrifice of our brave men and women of the armed forces. The freedom to choose our leaders, the ability to worship as we please and a rule of law established in a constitution that positions the United States as a unique leader among the world's nations, would not be possible without our veterans.

To all our veterans both current and former, to their families and loved ones, thank you for all you do! Many of us will never know the full extent of your sacrifice, but know that we are truly grateful.

KM 7th Grade Football Team Goes Undefeated

Congratulations to the Kasson Mantorville seventh grade football team on a perfect season. The team clinched the deal with a 22 to 14 win over stewartville with an interception on the last play that was almost ran back for a TD. Great job KM!

National Adoption Month

 The Month of November is "National Adoption Awareness" month. This designation is to both celebrate families with adopted children and also to bring attention to the needs of children world wide that need a "forever" home. I recently saw a great quote by an unnamed source "Adopting one child wouldn't change the world, but for that one child the world will change."

The process to adopt a child is a slow process with many steps, but there is no greater joy than being a parent. There are many reason to adopt and what ever the reason the journey is a tremendously awarding and worthwhile one. For those of you that are considering or would consider adoption I have attached some useful links below.

There are many more on the web as well. Adoption is the most loving solution to handling an unplanned pregnancy. There are more families looking for an adoptive child than there are children to place. I'm honored to once again receive the support of my neighbors for another term as your mayor.
I want to thank everyone who participated in our republic's election process, especially those who worked and volunteered to keep our community safe. Now, more than ever we need to focus on what brings us together, our shared values and how we continue to move our community forward. Congratulations to Lyle Hoaglund on being the newest member on the Mantorville City Council. Lyle will be replacing Henry Blair on the council. I would like to thank Henry for his time and efforts on the council, I will miss his insights and input. I would also like to congratulate Luke Nash on his return to the City Council.

Last offer on Radiator (Creamery) building

The Last offer on the old creamery building will be considered tonight. There is a proposal being presented to be considered over the demolition of the building. This will be the last meeting this will be reviewed as the construction crew is ready to take the building down on tuesday

9-1-1 Day, We will never forget!

In 2001 terrorist flew two planes into the world trade tower. A third jet was crashed into the pentagon. Onboard a fourth jet everyday heros took matter into their own hands and stoped that jet from hitting it's target possibly the White House. Because of those action we live in a differnt world today, but they have not taken our freedoms away. We must always rember the men, women and children that lost their lives on that day. We must also honor those brave men and women that have keep us safe from similar acts ever since. We can honor all of these people by commiting ourselves to never forgetting the acts of Sept 11, 2001. If you know a police officer, a TSA worker and member of our armed services or anyone involved in our inteligence community make sure to let them know how much we all appricaite their hard work, dedication and perserverence. On behave of the City of Mantorville, thank you one and all!

Mantorville's Own Recognize by an award

Mantorville's Joe Adams has been recognized for his hard work, dedication and attention to details. Joe will be awarded the "State of MN Wastewater Operator Association Class SD Award winner of the year" later this month. I will be attending the award ceremony and will post a picture of his award afterwards. Great Job Joe, keep up the great work!

Radiator Shop / Creamery Future

 The City of Mantorville is still in the process of determining the future of the old Radiator shop. While there has been no formal decision made the City Council did approve a bid for the removal of the structure; however, the council also spoke of keeping all options open and we have directed the City Clerk to collect additional information before a final decision is made.

Mantorville CARES Act Grants Available to Help Small Businesses & Nonprofits

Small businesses and Nonprofits in the City of Mantorville impacted by COVID-19 can apply to receive financial assistance to help with expenses incurred during the pandemic.

Relief payments will be provided to businesses that experienced interruption due to required closures as a result of the public health emergency up to $5,000 for eligible expenses.

The City of Mantorville, along with townships in the county, have dollars available through the federal CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) and part of that funding is being allocated to assist small businesses and nonprofits. The City of Mantorville received $92,000 and Dodge County has received funding as well.

Registered Businesses (including in-home daycares) and non-profit organizations located within the city limits of Mantorville are eligible to apply and must have been in operation prior to March 1, 2020.

Applications are available online at www.mantorville.com. The applications will be accepted August 20, 2020 through September 15, 2020 at noon.

The Mantorville Economic Development Authority will administer the program and distribute the funds. All submissions will be reviewed to determine eligibility early-October.

EDA Grant Money

FIRST ROUND CARE GRANTS

The Mantorville Economic Development Authority is offering COVID relief grants. Local businesses (within the city limits of Mantorville) that have an EIN can apply for a grant which is funded by the cities CARE funds. The first step is to submit a quick estimate for your request. The money can be used for paying "fixed" cost of business such as loan payments, utilities (Not water or sewer) and other fixed cost. Each business will need to be able to show recites for the expenses submitted for this process. For more information and to apply contact Mantorville City Hall.
