D6 - Hwy 57 in Mantorville: 2024 construction Hwy 57 reopens to traffic in Mantorville as construction ends Traffic began traveling on Highway 57 in Mantorville this afternoon, Monday, Aug. 19 as the reconstruction work wraps up. During the four-month project, construction crews: reconstructed the road replaced the water, sanitary and stormwater pipes improved the walking and biking areas through town. There may be workers still in the area doing final work or cleaning up. Motorists should remain attentive and observe speed limits through town. Celebration planned A ceremonial ribbon cutting event is planned Sept. 4 to celebrate the completion of the project and kickoff Mantorville’s Marigold Days celebration, which runs through the weekend after Labor Day, Sept. 6-8. D6 - Hwy 57 in Mantorville: 2024 construction Hwy 57 Mantorville remains closed to traffic for final work Be aware that new striping can be fresh paint Thank you for your patience. Rainy weather on Friday has slowed the final opening for Highway 57 in Mantorville and we ask that you continue to stay off the road. Crews are trying to finish the final road markings, some of which have a longer curing time than traditional striping paint. Because of that, we are unable to open the road until that work is done. When? It's likely to open in the next few days, and we will announce it on this email list to ensure you have accurate information. A number of motorists were observed driving around barricades and down the road.  Remember that this can be fresh paint and by not observing the barricades, you risk getting fresh paint on your vehicle.  More importantly, if crews are on the road, you put them at risk. Ensure that this project ends as a safe project. Stay off the road until the barricades are removed. Thank you again for choosing to stay informed. D6 - Hwy 57 in Mantorville: 2024 construction Hwy 57 Mantorville public meetings have ended Thank you for attending the weekly contractor meetings about the Highway 57 project in Mantorville. As the project gets set to open up and reach completion, we are discontinuing the meetings. There will not be a meeting today or any further Wednesdays. Decoration Committee meet first time

 The newly formed decoration committee meet today and discussed light poles and decorations. Oddly enough during this meeting the  some of the light poles actually showed up on site to be installed later today.

 Well, half of the light poles arrived at least. Enough to have the main lights
by the park installed later today.

Striping planned for Friday or Saturday

 The Hwy 57 project is planned to be striped on Friday or Saturday depending on weather. After which the road should open to normal traffic, I will try and get a shot of the first vehicle...

 

Road was unofficailly open for a few hours

 Hy-way 57 looked like it was open for a few hours as the road crew was prepping the road for new paint. The barricades were placed back up soon after however.

 

Construction and Coffee

 Today, Aug 14, 2024 at our Construction and Coffee, I am looking forward to hearing when we can expect to have traffic flow restored to normal ahead of our official Ribbon Cutting ceremony.

I spoke with MNDOT last week and I was informed that they would try to get this answer for our meeting today.

Hwy 57 Ribbon Cutting Announced

 

Good Morning:

Ther ribbon cutting ceremony for the Hwy 57 project will be held Sept 4th 2024 at 1:30pm here in Mantorville.

We have chosen what is hopefully a convenient time to get our story ready for prime time news.

Sen. Carla Nelson has confirmed she will be here, Rep. Duane Quam, Congressman Brad Finstad and Sen Amy Klobachar  have all been invited to say a few words at this celebration and ribbon cutting,

This event will be the day before the first events of the Marigold Days celebration and will be a great reintroduction to Mantorville and to promote our celebration and the completion of a long awaited project.

MNDOT Update #14

 

D6 - Hwy 57 in Mantorville: 2024 construction Paving nears completion in Mantorville You've probably seen a flurry of paving work taking place this week in Mantorville on Highway 57. It's nearing completion, which is a signal that the project is winding down. More work remains, but crews are focused on completion in the next few weeks. We'll have a better sense of when traffic will be opened onto the new road in the next week or so. Crews have been waiting for Xcel Energy to remove poles downtown, so they can complete some of the concrete work. More work for striping, signing, landscaping and other work needs to finish Safety in work zones Motorists should always be prepared to encounter traffic changes when approaching work zones including lane closures, lane shifts, uneven road surfaces, slow-moving heavy equipment and slow or stopped traffic. To keep everyone safe, drivers must:  Obey posted speed limits. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300. Drive undistracted. Avoid using cell phones, mobile devices, adjusting the radio – even eating –while in work zones. Move over. Give workers room to safely complete their work. Be patient. Expect delays, especially during peak travel times. Do the zipper merge. Avoid making unnecessary lane changes.
