D6 - Hwy 57 in Mantorville: 2024 constructionRain has slowed progressOngoing rainy weather has slowed progress to complete the storm and sanitary sewer installation at Fourth Street north of the Hwy 57 Mantorville bridge. We'll alert you as soon as crews can complete the work and prepare the road to safely reopen to traffic into town from the south end. Thanks for your patience. Sixth Street will remain closed as our construction work continues. Fifth, Seventh and Ninth Streets are open, but if rain creates challenging conditions or other work shifts, watch for barricades that indicate a closure. Typically, you can find another crossing of Hwy 57/Main Street on the next block or two. Crews are hustling to complete the work safely. You can do your part to stay out of the work zone areas and to be alert and follow the posted speed limits. Continue to follow the detour. Once the bridge opens, please only enter Mantorville if it's your destination, such as a business or your home. Businesses remain open and available for your visits. Do not use the road to travel through Mantorville. Drivers traveling too fast and not paying attention are the main causes of work zone crashes. Follow these safe driving tips: - Obey posted speed limits. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.
- Drive undistracted. Avoid using phones, mobile devices, adjusting the radio – even eating – while in work zones.
- Move over. Give workers room to safely complete their work.
- Know before you go. Get real-time information about traffic and road conditions at 511mn.org or download the free 511mn app at Google Play or the App Store.
- Be patient. Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Do the zipper merge.
- Avoid making unnecessary lane changes.
- Never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
- Expect work zones to constantly change. Day to day you could experience lane shifts, closures, narrower lanes, moving workers and vehicles.
