Projects:With the return of warmer weather, the summer projects are under-way. The Waste Water Treatment plant project is continuing forward and the improvements on Stage Coach road are scheduled to start next week.I will be posting more pictures of the current project on my blog as well as last weeks article.
Dangers Below:
We do not want anyone hurt on the newly eroded cliffs so City Staff have removed any swing ropes, and a few dead trees. The Sheriff's office is aware of the current dangers on the cliff and will be helping the city with enforcing the no cliff diving rule. In the near future we will be installing no trespassing signs and no cliff diving signs and the Sheriff's office will be siting violators.
SEMLM:
The Southeastern Minnesota League of Municipalities (SEMLM) meeting was held on April 20 this past week. The regional meeting was held in Mantorville this year and I have posted my remarks as the welcoming Mayor to my blog. The SEMLM serves the Minnesota counties of Dodge, Fillmore, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Wabasha and Winona and was started in 1962. The group is cooperation between member Cities to bring awareness of common issues affecting Southern Minnesota to the attention of the State Legislature. Much like the joint ventures (City of Mantorville, City of Kasson and the KM School District) the group looks to leverage our collective voice in order to affect change.
Joint Ventures:
The DCI published a nice article a few weeks back about the joint venture. This group is a collaboration between the City of Kasson, The City of Mantorville and the KM School district. The Joint Ventures board meet a week prior to the last article in the DCI and at that time we determined that the middle school, and Riverside park needed some new / updated basketball hoops. The group has ordered two new plexiglass back broads for Riverside park. These new back boards will be installed as soon as they arrive and the City of Mantorville has authorized the resurfacing and striping of the courts in Riverside park. As a reminder the Sheriff's office will continue to monitor any parking infringements on our courts including siting those that park on the surface of the courts. The City of Mantorville is making an investment in these resources and we want to keep them nice for everyone to enjoy.
Yours in service,
Chuck Bradford,
Mayor - City of Mantorville
