Many communities have been struggling with how to re-utilize their retired school building. In 2011 the Kellers bought the former Kasson-Mantorville school and have had success in identifying new uses for the school. The former school is now serving as a kind of business incubator and the Post Bulletin recently published an article highlighting some of the businesses that have been able to utilize space in the school for their business needs. |
Some of the businesses include a piano restoration business, a home school resource center, a church, an electronics company servicing niche markets and a very successful fudge company. The article that the Post Bulletin ran can be found at this URL.
The companies that are utilizing the school space have been successful because of the opportunity to expand their business without incurring the significant overhead of renting or buying an entire building.
